Welcome!San Francisco by Charles E. Adams is a collection of images painted from 1977 until about 1989. I did however do my last San francisco painting in 2006. When I first relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area I fell in love with the city. I was fascinated by this city with houses built without spaces between them and the wonderful array of colors used to decorate them. The houses and streets were old but well kept and beautiful. I could feel the history. As I drove around the different areas of the city, I became increasingly aware of its' musical, rhythmic qualities. Then I suddenly realized why I had been brought to the Bay Area, it was to paint San Francisco. My first painting was CITY BY THE BAY. This was my attempt to put all of the elements of the city into one painting. But that is not possible! So, I resigned from my job and spent the next twelve years painting images of San Francisco. I tried to capture the city's rhythm, motion, movements and many personalities. I believe I succeeded. The originals were all painted in acrylics and ranged in sizes from 16X20 to the largest being 24X30. The paintings were done on both masonite panels and on canvas. My paintings were primarily sold in Art Galleries in San Francisco and Art Galleries around the Bay Area. The original paintings sold almost as fast as I could produce them. I published Limited Edition Lithographs and Photographs that compeletly sold out. Now today, due to the advent of computers and digital technology, Adobe Photo Shop and the advancements in Digital Printers, I am able to reintroduce these images to the public. The images today are of course digitally printed, Using 80 pound, 100% archival paper and archival inks that produce images colorfast for approximately 80 years. I am pleased to be able to again, make these images available to the public Charles E. Adams
